Former Secretary General's Message
Hello prospective delegates, chairs, and participants, and welcome to IBSB MUN! It is my distinct pleasure to invite you to the first (and hopefully not last) edition of this conference, as Secretary General of the event.
I first envisioned this conference all the way back in March 2020, during lockdown, when I knew that I wanted to do something big, to organise something and to make a difference, and after relentlessly bugging Ms Blessy, our MUN co-ordinator, to allow us to go forward with the plans, she finally gave in, and the conference was born; I’m sure we gave her lots of headaches, especially over the last few months, but I know it will all be worth it.
MUN for me is more than just a hobby. I know it sounds cliche, but really, I took a reluctant decision in Year 7 to try it out and it has virtually changed my entire life so far. In these past 4 years, it has allowed me to meet some of my closest friends and my biggest inspirations, to pursue my passions of debating and public speaking, to travel the world and make priceless memories, and really, I could go on and on. I have no words to describe what my MUN experience has been like so far, so instead, I decided to put all my accumulated knowledge, skill, and passion into this one project: IBSB MUN.
If you’ve come this far, you must be at least somewhat interested in joining our conference, and I have to say, it will be one of the best choices you’ll ever make. Our team has put in countless hours of work, sweat and tears, in order to ensure that this conference is an experience like no other; no matter if you’ve done this before or not, you will find a committee that fits you, you will find people that share your interests, and most importantly, you will find a perfect chance to grow and develop. You’ve stumbled across an incredible opportunity, so please, don’t let it go to waste.
All the best,
Maria Sticlea, Former Secretary-General of IBSB MUN
