Secretary General
Hey everyone and welcome to the first edition of IBSB MUN! Organising an MUN and becoming Secretary General has been my dream ever since I first stepped foot in a committee room, and I still find it unbelievable that, together with my amazing team, my vision is finally gonna become reality. I’m going to be in Year 12 next year at IBSB, I enjoy reading, playing the piano, debating, and doing judo, and I’m quite passionate about psychology and economics. I've been doing MUN for over 4 years now, so I'm really happy to finally reach this milestone moment in any MUNer's journey, and I know that it's going to be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Deputy SG of Communications
Hi everyone, my name is Melissa (or Mel, it’s up to you) and this year I have the honour of being the Deputy Secretary General of Communications for IBSBMUN. I started MUN in year 9 as admin staff, but after four years of hard work I am finally part of the Secretariat. MUN has always been enjoyable for me, as it allows me to discuss world problems with others just as passionate as me. I enjoy classical studies, literature, debate, and much more - so discussions about these are more than welcome. I cannot wait to meet all of you in February!

Hi! I'm Rares, and I am Deputy Secretary General of Programme at IBSBMUN. I've been an MUNer since Year 7 and have attended several international MUN events in the years since, mainly as a delegate; now, I have the honour of chairing and organising one as part of the Secretariat here. I'm passionate about politics, history, computer science, and philosophy, and I spend my free time reading interesting books and writing migraine-inducing code. I can't wait for February 18th to come around so I get a chance to meet you all!

Chief of Marketing
Hey! My name is Medeea (or Mede for short), and I am 16. I am the Chief of Marketing of IBSBMUN and am currently working alongside my great colleagues to bring IBSBMUN to life. I've only taken up my first MUN recently, at LSEMUN in February 2021, but ever since I got the taste of MUN I have joined the organising team of IBSBMUN and a 6 week MUN course at LIMUN. In my spare time, my passions include athletics and cycling, playing the piano, studying cars and learning how to drive, doing work experience and basically anything that helps me stack up on knowledge and fill up my time. I am looking forward to the 18th of February and meeting all of you 🙂

Hi, I'm Ioana and I'm in year 12 (11th grade) at the International British School of Bucharest. I love bossing people around so I think that the position of chief of operations and logistics for IBSBMUN fits me well (although I'm nice I promise). In my free time I like reading and doing judo. I'm also very passionate about psychology and I’ve not had the best experiences with MUN in the past but I like organising things, so I agreed to take on this project anyway. Teacher Coordinator
International issues and the way they can impact ordinary lives had drawn my attention back when I was but a student myself. Recognising not only the importance of the work of the various UN bodies, but also in view of the growing polarisations of society, Model UN helps instill an aptitude for tolerance, negotiations and seeking to pave a way forward in the face of heated disagreements, all very useful to students regardless of what careers they may later follow. I am very proud of our organising team and hope that all attendees will enjoy the conference.

About IBSB

IBSB was first opened in September of 2000, so it is definitely not a new school, and has since welcomed students from all around the world, with children from over 30 different nationalities. The school’s experience with different international cultures has allowed it to provide a more and more welcoming environment for any and all students. The school offers an authentic British education for all ages through the teaching of a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, with IGCSE examinations in Year 11 and International A Level exams in Years 12 and 13. The school has hosted both of the previous editions of COBIS MUN, in 2016 and 2018, although one key difference is that those conferences were mainly teacher-led, while this year’s will mostly be organised by the students themselves; this ensures that our students become well-rounded and diverse individuals, in line with our High Performance Learning goals.
